Adventure 45

An introduction to highland Radnorshire

Challenge rating:

This is an introduction to Radnorshire riding and the Epic. You follow the first 25 miles of the classic course then turn back at Bwlch-y-Sarnu for a return over the high moors and a fast descent into Knighton.

New for 2018 - we've revised the return after the cafe - get ready for a steep (but safe) descent and then a new climb in Llanbister.

It's virtually car-free and even more scenic than the Epic/Legend course.

One food stop on this route - we're using the new cyclist-orientated cafe at Bwlch-y-Sarnau - link

Stats

Climbs:

1) B4355 - first hill comes after 13.5miles, takes you out of the valley to give you a first taste of the highlands:

2) David's Well - you'll hardly notice this long, gentle rise back up into the hills:

3) Llanbister - start climbing immediately off the main road and be prepared for a steep ascent up around the church and over a cattle grid:

4) Fron Goch - 2miles long and 600ft gained for the last climb on the route - a 3 mile drop down into the finish at Knighton comes next:
